So, after requesting a photo pass for an upcoming concert, I received this e-mail from the publicity team.
"Your work is amazing! Would you be interested in shooting the band before the show in a quick photo shoot environment? Maybe just some candid shots around the outside of the venue. If we like any of them, we can discuss terms to purchase a few from you. Please let me know so I can set it up with the tour manager. Thanks!"
I obviously said I would do it, no question there.
So, how much does it suck to be turned down? Its a fact of life when shooting concerts, we've all dealt with it. Here's my issue with it; When you ask 2 weeks prior of the show, the label/publicist/manager responds to the first contact with a "looking into it, we'll let you know" response. You wait patiently, but its getting closer to the day of the show. Emails are not being replied to, maybe you have even received a "I'll be out of the office....." canned response. Then, hours to the show time, you get a "sorry lists full" email.
DRM-free music is being offered on MySpace music service in an effort to compete with iTunes. The catch is that the music can be played only on computers connected to the Internet, and listeners have to tolerate advertising splashed across the screen. If you want to transfer a song to your iPod or other portable device, you will have to buy the music through Amazon.com's download service.

Here is an interesting announcement from the oldest 35mm camera maker in the world. Leica has announced a 30mmx45mm sensor digital SLR called the Leica S2 that will record a whopping 37MB digital image in Adobe's DNG raw file format. The Leica S system will include nine lenses, some with leaf shutters in the lens for very high speed flash sync. Note that the 30mmx45mm sensor is a 3:2 aspect ratio like existing 35mm digital SLR systems. This is the first "larger than 35mm" based digital SLR that isn't a medium format digital camera.

I just received a new D300, and here is my four-word concise review: "It's the sensor, stupid."
Don't get me wrong; the other features are great! But the high-ISO performance of the CMOS sensor is much better than I anticipated. The sensor is the heart of any digital SLR, and the CMOS sensor in the D300 is a big improvement over the CCD sensor in the D200.
Before buying, I read literally dozens of D300 reviews on the internet and in print.

This article suggests Apple is working with artists to provide applications containing more album artwork and other material for consumers. If this happens, we need to consider how we price photographs for a record. Imagine more of your photographs being distributed via iPod or iPhone via more album artwork.

Following are photographs from Queensryche's performance at the White River Amphitheater in Auburn Washington on August 23rd, 2008. I would have posted these sooner but I've been on vacation in Alaska and (fortunately) had no access to the Internet.
I think these came out pretty good, any comments or critiques are appreciated.
1.Wide shot to show off the Seahawks drum corp playing Anarchy X along with the band.
