MISSION STATEMENT - This site is dedicated to professional music photographers. Our mission is to advocate sound business practices, warn against predatory client practices, provide helpful and educational resources, and foster a sense of community. All discussions related to capturing, processing, cataloging and licensing music photographs are welcome.
Rob Galbraith posted a pretty extensive article on the new Canon 7D including full-size sample images and video. How do you feel this camera will fit into the concert and music photography profession? Will HD video built into DSLR cameras place new restrictions on photojournalists documenting live performances? Is there a need for 18MP of image data from live concerts? I can see large pixel base cameras playing well in studio and location portraits for editorial and for a record label or band to use for promotional and advertising. I can't see the demand for live concert images for editorial publication where the story is likely old a week after the images are published.
What say you?
Megapixel count aside, all
Megapixel count aside, all the new techology in each new generation of cameras will help every photographer. I think the electronic level would be awesome to have! And you don't have to use all those MP's, but you can sure crop out a nice image from the center if you are stuck shooting from the sound board (Beyonce, Fergie!).
