Legends in Concert - Branson, MO

Here's some I posted on POTN last week, but only got a few comments so I'll post some here. The show is called Legends in Concert. From their website: "Legends In Concert is consistently recognized for its spectacular superstar lineups throughout the year. With authentic costumes and their own voices, talented “Legends” entertainers create uncanny resemblances such as Buddy Holly, Patsy Cline, Roy Orbison, The Andrews Sisters, The Blues Brothers, Elvis, Neil Diamond, Marilyn Monroe, Tom Jones, Elton John, Buddy Holly, Dolly Parton, Garth Brooks, The Blues Brothers, Judy Garland, Johnny Mathis, Wynonna Judd, Frank Sinatra, Shania Twain... and many more of your favorites!"

It was a very good show, fast paced, good energy, & pretty dancers :D. The current lineup includes "Garth Brooks", "The Blues Brothers", "Liza Minelli", "Elvis Presley", and "Stevie Wonder". I used the 17-55 & 70-200. There are more pictures in the gallery here: http://photos.1branson.com/v/Branson2007/Branson-Shows-2007/20070309_Legends-In-Concert/

Hi there, let's see if I can say something constructive here...

The light has an unfortunate harsh quality to it, which I suppose cannot be helped too much. This bothers me most in #1. Maybe adjusting brighness and perhaps saturation (adding it to the skin tones) might help a tad.

In #2, the guy is apparently trying to put the microphone up his nose :). Other than that, the sitaution is good - better to capture a moment of action rather than a dull static shot. When I shoot singing people, I shoot a lot of shtos from the same angle just so that I have a lot of pictures to choose from.

#3 is a bit tight... I'd prefer a bit more space on each side.

#4 best of the set, I like it. Cropping it to square might work also.

#5 I feel this picture is missing a piano :)

#6 I'd probably need to see this a bit larger to say for sure, but she seems to have her eyes half-closed, which would be a bit unfortunate.

Overall, good going, keep it up.

Harsh light... is it possible I'm adding too much contrast? Here's an alternative to 1 (about 2/3 stop faster). Total PP was slight levels adjust, mild noise ninja, manyk sharpen/resize.

Alternative to 2 (same PP as a bove). I did get a dozen or so frames here. The one I posted was where I started. From that point he lowered his head and turned more towards me keeping the mic in front of his face. Guess I went for the peak moment. this one is about 5 frames later than 2.

#3 I'm stuck with what I got there. That is the out of the camera crop.

#5 I wrestled with that one. I have some less close up that include the piano, and some yet that include the whole piano. I just want to post the best shot of that scene and not post a bunch of shot. I'm of the mind I'd rather display the very best dozen or 2 shots instead of several hundered trying to show every angle. I just need to make sure I am actually picking the best of the bunch. :D

6. Looking at the original here, her right eye (camera left) is open, the other the bottom eye lid seems partially closed.

I appreciate the comments.

I agree #4 is the best of the set.
I like the second version of 'Garth' a lot better then the first. Exposure as well as expression.
Timing on the first 'BluesBrother' shot is a lot better, but I agree with the mic being in the way. It still is in the way on the 2nd however. Processing is better here on the 2nd as well.
On the other comments: Kalle said most, but I don't think getting a wider version of #3 would improve things: Looks like a pretty distracting BG... I think this is the weakest image of the set, 4 and 1a being best.
