MUCC @ Provinssirock 2007, one pic

Hey Kalle

Ok, already said I liked this but I guess I can go into a bit more detail as to why!

First off I like the composition and the way the light is coming into the frame and onto the singer. The background isn't distracting and keeps the eye to where it should be. The guitarist in the bottom right adds some perspective and interest, although it's a shame that his head is a little cut off . There seems to be good detail in the singers hair / face and the colouring looks good (well on my screen!).

From what I've seen of your work I wouldn't automatically recognise it as some of yours if I wasn't told though!

Thanks, I do hope I don't repeat myself too much, so that's a really nice comment :).

One interesting thought is that after you've sorted out the "easy" pictures from a set, then it starts to get interesting, meaning "finding" a good photo from the set of more or less "challenged" set of pictures by searching for nice compositions (by cropping the pics). This was a crop from 12,8 to about 5 Mpix...

I don't think it's about repeating yourself... just establishing a style that is your own :) You seem to have done that :)

Okay, here I am critiquing one of Kalle's images. What's wrong with this picture? :)

I really like this image a lot but echo Mary's comment about the cutoff head in the lower corner.
I also find a small spot of white just below his elbow a bit distracting as well. Other than that it's
a beautiful shot.

Nice image.
Some of the previous comments I agree with, but I think I'ld have cropped tighter, and loose the second guy: Doesn't add much, if anything, IMO.

The second guy is there for a number of reasons: he creates a nice tension to the image, having a "secondary" subject creates a more dynamic picture (the viewr has two points of interest between which the eye can travel), and there's a second layer to the image.

I agree... the second guy makes the photo far more interesting.
