Re: Recent Open Air photos
#1 and #8 are my favourites, although I like tight crops, #6 is a bit too tight in the right for my liking. I notice that several shots are bit more grainy than I usually see from you Kalle, was there anything different you did to those in PP or is this something with the new body? And just out of curiosity, #4 and #8 were shot using shutter priority versus aperture for the rest, was there a reason for that choice in these shots?
Re: Recent Open Air photos
#1 thru 5 are great.
Love the PP on #2 (almost Polacolor35 ;)) and 4 and 5
In #6 I'ld have preferred focus on the face.
#7 is a bit on the dark side (might be fitting the band)
#8 isn't my thing. I often don't shoot if the band does things like this (Although I must say I'm processing a shoot right now, where I've got this type of image ;))
Re: Recent Open Air photos
1 (PAIN) is a great capture, as I remember the situation on stage and it would be not easy to shoot what you did.
7 (COB) raises some questions, because you apparetly get it coloured in violet, too much I think.
2, 3 and 8 are wonderful and really well done. I just may learn from these examples how to shoot.
4, 5 and 6 I see most usual looks. IMO Immortal would be represented better, as I can guess from other photographers (my version, will post my thread soon - http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/59632886/

Both were photographed at Ruisrock (I assume you thought Tuska).

Re: Recent Open Air photos
Some great shots again here Kalle...
[1] I really like the capture but with the smoke being over him rather than just behind it is a little distracting and I feel it takes away somewhat from the overall feel unfortunately... nothing you can do about that I know, so you did well with this. Good that you got him whilst singing
[2] Even though it's rather noisy I think that this shot works really well. The fact that the girl just to the left (looking at the shot) is so clear and smiling really makes this shot. I really like this one :)
[3] This is good, nice pose, timing etc... but there are a couple of things that make it rather a distracting photo to look at. Rather than the focus being almost entirely on the singer's face, I find my eye wandering to the lighter areas like the bright spot just below his hand, on his knee and under his leg. Have you tried a really extreme (landscape) crop where you get rid of the guy in the background completely and go with some open space to the left like is already there? Still, very clear and detail is good.
[4] I really like this one.. .nothing I'd change about it. Although it's a little noisy is is an excellent photo and conveys the feeling of the performance well.
[5] Again, another excellent photo Kalle. Nothing I'd change here either... the lighting works perfectly here and the guy is clearly enjoying himself.
[6] I can see what you were trying to do here but for me it doesn't work.
[7] This is good.. the smoke and lighting work well here and it's unusual to get such a colour in the background, so that's quite nice. Another good photo of Alexi doing his thing :)
[8] This is cool... while not the best photo I've seen you post it shows interaction between you and the performer and it conveys a 'fun' feeling.
Overall nice work :)
