Zoom effect

I haven't seen zooming-while-exposing concert photos too often. I'm sure the reason for this is that it gets old very fast.

Anyway, I experimented with zooming and here's one example

And of course, you'll be bullied if you do it in Photoshop ;)

Nice!! I played around with it a little at the club when I was working there but never got it as good as this. Threw them all away.

I share a few. I only ever experimented with it once with my 28-135mm 3.5-5.6 IS.

Canon 20D, 350D, 35mm 1.4, 85mm 1.8, 430 EX and 580EX flash.

I really like the first photo... That zoom effect was done very well! I don't know why people would bully anything anyone does. If you want to do it and it looks good, then do it and f*** what they say. TO EACH HIS OWN, they can say they don't like it because everyone is titled to their own opinion but you don't have to listen to them.. Thats my opinion

Well, welcome to the MusicPhotoForums. We will NOT be bullying you. But we do have a lot of experience amongst us and know that there is bullying on this topic and many feel that it is often used as the poor man's substitute for hard work & experience and when one cannot get sharp crisp interesting images and needs a crutch. Of course, if you can get those properly exposed crisp images repeatedly but choose to only get shutter drag images then obviously it is a choice (rather than the only choice) and should be respected as such.

Thanks! Well, I did have a smiley there to soften that sentence about photoshoping :).

But I guess it's true among photographers: if you can do it (or any other "effect") during exposure, you'll get more respect (from other photographers) than doing it in Photoshop, even if the outcome is exactly the same... Might be silly, but that's the way it probably most of the time is. But then, I'm not photographing to please other photographers!
