Re: Jalometalli day 2
The last one is very cool! Nice catch!
Re: Jalometalli day 2
I like the first most, although the composition is a bit awkward. Not much though. There also seems to be almost more emphasis on his hand than face since the part of the picture area where the hand is is emphasized by the lights in the bacground. Good emotion and moment.
2, 4 & 5 might be a bit too much up the nose. For instance, in five I personally have a problem with so much chin and cheeck showing while the eye(s) are relatively hidden. I get these types of pictures a lot too (but filter them out). Five's still nice, though, and two's not bad either. Good atmosphere and a nice moment in both.
The Holy Moses pic is the most problematic for me, though. It is subjective, but "random" elements ruin pictures for me. The guy's head, the back of a jacket in the left side and the guy to the right who's not actually participating that much seem like elements that should'nt be in the picture. I'd consider re-cropping the picture so that all of the aforementioned elements are left out - barely. Maybe from the top also to balance the composition. For me, that would improve the shot a great deal.

Re: Jalometalli day 2
Thank you for valuable comments, Kalle! Indeed, I should have less noses in my shots :) Holy Moses image was taken from random location, so it was impossible to avoid hats and such. I also was thinking of cropping it, even tried some. So I'll keep in mind all what you said.

Re: Jalometalli day 2
Agree with most of Kalles comments, but I think the 'up the nose' in #2 and 4 is mainly because of the stance of the person (head in the neck)
Nice fill flash in #2, but a bit blueish I think.
On #1, I'd crop off the bit of lamp in the top left, and I think there is a slight greenish cast on the face/hair I don't like too much. Darken the arm / lighten the face a bit.
Might be an idea to get a 'Editing Images Okay' tag like on POTN: I can post a crop of #3 that works better IMO ;)

Re: Jalometalli day 2
Well, I'd much prefer to have several images from each band ... one image just doesn't give much room for the flavor and these people work hard to do what they do and it is respectful to convey the "vibe" of it. In general these all seem pretty contrasty and moody and arty ... is this what the groups are about? I don't know them so this is an honest question. The Holy Moses with the Jack Daniels bottle seems somewhat contrived (not by you, by them) ... in my usual venue it would not be allowed because of local regulations but it also seems to be totally unnecessary. All that aside, these are interesting images and that's what counts.

The server I use is down ATM, I'll post once it's back up...
Re: Jalometalli day 2
DwightMcCann: the choose of a few pics only is intentional. There was a huge festival with 30 bands so if I start post everything I got there will be loads of images. Since we're talking about bringing up top-level skills in music photography, I restrict myself to the most special pictures. Of course there are more images at http://tsukasa.zenfolio.com -> concert photos -> jalometalli.
Regarding Holy Moses - nobody knows whether it was a real whisky ;) just their famous song being sang is called "To drunk to fuck" :)

Well, I still like more pictures and I don't have any moral issues with the liquor. Unfortunately, in my younger days (I am 62) I was, once or twice, precisely too drunk to fuck and missed some wonderful opportunities, sigh. I have tried to make for it ever since. ;)
