Kosmikud and Viikate

Kosmikud and Viikate was playing at Lutakko last friday, 2th of November.

Rest of Kosmikud here and Viikate here.

The grain on the Viikate photos is due to the heavy smoke they had there on the stage.

First is nice, second very nice.
third doesn't work for me at all.
Viikate I is okay but has some drawbacks (bass player in the back, lighting on the right of the image) , 2 has "the wrong type of noise" (don't know how to put it). #3 is okay I guess.

I know what you mean. Originally it hadn't almost any contrast. And well, that's the best I could come up.

Extreme noise reduction and re-addition of "nicer" noise might work ;)

So, we have a consensus that noise adds to these images? And one must select the correct pattern from the noise pallet? :-)

My votes go to these:

  • Kosmikud - I: The image is very crisp, the artist is really grinding it out, and the dark blue makes a great background.
  • Viikate - II: The grainy look is excellent and the monotone color enhances it.

The others are OK too, but I think the two above are my favorite.

"Extreme noise reduction" as such would result to plastic look, that's why I suggested to add "better" noise after that :)

I don't use noise for artistic effect nor any noise reduction software so I am half serious but mostly joking (is that a paradox?) by my comment. I don't have any issues against noise reduction ... I am just fortunate that my venue has good lighting.
