Dimebag Beyond Forever Tour at Henry's Pub, Kuopio

These are photos from the Dimebag Darrell tribute tour organized (for the 3rd time?) by various Finnish metal artists. DD was naturally the guitarist of Pantera and Damageplan, who was shot and killed on stage in 2004.

Rest of the set (just a few more) can be seen at

I linked the photos here, since it seems to be the preferred method in this part of the forum.

Number five is the best, IMO. Eight comes closely behind.
Five clearly shows it's all about music. Eight has something unexpected, (relative) small fingers behind the head.

#5 and #6 are lovely! I don't get to shoot Metal.

I liked #8 myself. Looking at it now, I guess I could burn the small light area next to the fingers out altogether.

This was the last picture I took that night and it just seemed hopelessly underexposed and more or less useless at the first glance... Doesn't tell you much about the gig itself and probably does not work that well on its own, but IMO it's quite amusing :) Would be better if more of his face was lit, but luckily there's more than just a bunch of hair. BTW he's Rapu from Bleak.

I am generally awash in a sea of stuporous awe for most of the concerts posted here. A very high percentage of the groups are rattily dressed with sometimes ogreish costumes, 20-30ish with tattoos, odd haircuts, and look distressed. Then the photographers enhance all the oddest of their characteristics and make the images even more dark & mysterious. I look at them and think Hobbits gone Gothic! I enjoy them thoroughly but don't really relate to them ... except as bad dreams. :-)

[6] stands out most to me here. I really like the use of the dark space about his head and the pose you've captured is in complete contrast to what everyone would expect from such a gig. I think everything works well in this photo :)
