I really didn't have time to think about things, they seemed well rehearsed on group shots though. It was late after a long show. Is there anything YOU see wrong with this photo? (besides all the sweat, haha!!)

The lighting is a bit harsh. It looks like a snap shot that a fan would have gotten with a pocket P&S camera. Did you use the pop-up flash or an external flash? Could you have bounced the light off something...a ceiling...wall? The focus could be a bit more spot on too. Were you attempting a promo shot or just catching them lounging on the couch after the show? The reason I ask is because the look exhausted and somewhat caught by surprise....not posed.

Like i said it was spur of the moment. It was the pop up, I had gone back there right as they walked off stage to get a pic with them....mainly b/c of all the photos I have, I don't have one with me WITH the band. (yeah I'm a dork, I know) Then as I was leaving I asked if I could take a couple photos of just them.

I do have another shot where they aren't cut off at all around the edges, I'll make sure I always get everything in next time.

The lighting in the room was very odd. I didn't even get a chance to look up to see exactly what was going on up there. It was late and we were all exhausted. So if it ever happens again I wanted to know before hand what to keep in mind.

So now I have lighting, black on black blending, no cut off edges, and no pop flash. (pop up flash is horrible....it was ticking me off all night.) Now I see what you guys have been talking about. Oh and I need a better lens...asap!! Come on tax return!! hahaha!!

The person on the right is cut off at the edge of the frame. Always watch the edges to make sure you include the entire person, or that you are artistically chopping things off where you want them.

I agree with Faye .. the head-on lighting makes the image look flat. Bouncing the light off the ceiling or a wall would have produced more detail of their faces and more depth to the scene.

The top person's black t-shirt blends too much into the dark background. His face is floating mid-air.

I lightened the background so that the people would pop out a little more.
