Your best live shot ..

Post your best live performance show, articulate the positives, and articulate what you would change if you could do it over.

This is John Rzeznik of the Goo Goo Dolls performing live in Baltimore, Maryland. I love this shot.

Positives

Sharp, audience interaction, body posture, how he's holding the mic stand.

Negatives

I wish his head weren't chopped off.

This is

This is a really nice image... I think what really works here is the crowd interaction and the holding of one of their hands. It doesn't bother me that part of his head is out of the frame because the main focus, in my opinion, is the interaction.

I'd say this is one of my

I'd say this is one of my best... it's definitely one of my favourites. I do have a colour version but found this one for now...

Positive
The moment, 'movement' in the hand / finger

Negative
A little too dark on the right side of the frame

(and yes, it is slightly larger than what I used to post on the other forum!)

Live at The Belly Up Tavern in Solana Beach, CA for his annual Christmas Show.

Pros
Great action pose, he was just shredding! Also, you can see both his guitars, and the custom Peavey Amp in the bg.

Cons
Poor house lighting, and no eye contact with the camera.

It was posted recently here, so put only a thumbnail

Good: win Daily Deviation on deviantart.com. Can not really complain about the image itself
Bad: did not went do AC website because their webmaster also shoots him and prefer his own pics :)

But I am not concerned of pas pics, as I always tend to be better in future.

Hummm....Depends

It's hard for me to pick a fave from mine. I have at least one from each show lol. I guess I like this one. It's older and I took it with my old D50, 50mm f/1.8 and no flash so considering the lighting (almost ALL red...def a hot set up!) at Sonar in the Club Room it was fairly decent.

Positive:
Overall feeling...Brandon Thomas is very intense and the "drunk" just added to the intensity. Who doesn't love the classic "horns??!!" \m/

Negative:
Hot...blown...had to process the crap out of it to make it palatable. :(

My best live shot just got

My best live shot just got bested this Friday... so here is my new best live shot: Synyster Gates of Avenged Sevenfold, Rockstar Taste of Chaos Tour, Friday, March 14th, Susquehanna Bank (formerly Tweeter) Center, Camden, NJ. Shot with a Nikon D70s and a Tamron 2.8/28-75mm, f2.8, 1600 ISO, everything else set to default/normal.

POSITIVES: I'm really pleased with the sharpness and the clarity of the pic, and that the entire thing is not only focused, but shows even depth.

NEGATIVES: I wish the flare from the spotlight was not right where it is, touching the guitar. Also, a little more light on his face would have been better, too. So I guess that boils down to 'better angle needed'.

One of my better live shots...

I took this back in 1999. Courtney Love had convinced the crowd to rush the stage during her encore. Back then, I was stupid enough to pull my camera back out long after the third song.

POSITIVES: My stupidity landed me a classic shot that I couldn't have gotten otherwise and I didn't get caught.
NEGATIVES: I had to hold my camera over the tops of peoples heads in the pit to get the shot and couldn't see through the viewfinder. I wish I would have gotten less head-room and more foreground.

Mine would have to be...

This shot of C.C. DeVile of Poison taken a couple years ago at a 4-Day rock festival up here in Wisconsin.

Positives:
Just like the overall exposure and the way I caught his stage personna. I also like how the dialed down flash worked on this shot.

Negatives:
Haven't made any money off of it yet.

My favorite thus far

Randy Blythe from Lamb of God on the inaugural Sounds of the Underground tour in Seattle.

Positives:
I was very pleased to have caught the strobe at just the right time. The profile, backlighting from the strobe and the fog made an awesome combination for me.

Negatives:
I definitely undercharged for web licensing of this one as I had no idea the band was going to blow up the way they did.

Chris, Lamb of God concerts

Chris, Lamb of God concerts are tricky to shoot, well at least for me shooting in a club with low lighting and them moving and bouncing so much. I like a true silhouette from time to time and I do like this one. framed in nice and the blue halo of fog really brings him out in the photo. great job

This is probably my best

Postcards For Abby 05

This is probably my best shot though not my favorite.

Positives are that it's sharp as a tack, has energetic but smooth colouring, eyes open wide and the singer is being energetic in a way that is very communicative of how the band is.

What I'd do different - nothing really, I'd say your best shot is one that you wouldn't want to change too much. There are plenty of others that aren't my best that I'd like to change however ;)

some shots

This is Jakob Dylan at Bonnaroo, don't know that I would change anything about it!
jakob dylan

and Nicole Atkins, I would love to have less red, but when I tried to remedy that, it didn't look so great. The stage just had too many red lights and no others.

Desaturate Orange?

"I would love to have less red, but when I tried to remedy that, it didn't look so great."

Very nice capture, I like it. Good exposure too. The posted image looks to me like you may be able to take down the orange as opposed to red, and I would maybe desaturate a small bit as for my liking it's a little 'glowy' rather than 'full' - it's a strong image on its own without the current saturation. I won't be home until Monday now, but would otherwise be trying it out of interest, to see what that does.

Hello and my favourite shot

mine

Hi! I'm new here too.
This is one of my favorites, from a few weeks ago. CC DeVille from Poison at the Nashville Sommet Center.

I love the shot, but if i had a chance to do it again, I wouldn't have cut the neck of the guitar...:(

My shot of C.C. DeVille above

Was one of the eight I submitted to Photoshelter.

Poison has a new concert DVD that just came out. Figured I might get a hit with that image.

I have newer stuff of them, but why not give this image a chance to make some money?

The worst that can happen is nothing.

Wish I had Nashville Sam's shot, though.

Nicely done!

positives
technically good, and I really like the pose, most shots of her have been while she was playing so she's usually obscured by her sax'

negatives
Not many, I would take a couple of steps to the left and frame it a little further to the right if I had the chance to retake it as I think her hand is a bit too close the the right edge of the frame, and it means I could cut out the water bottle and monitor in the foreground.
