MISSION STATEMENT - This site is dedicated to professional music photographers. All discussions related to capturing, processing, cataloging and licensing music photographs are welcome.
I updated my portfolio (and the whole site, actually: http://www.bjorklid.net), I'd be glad to hear comments. The Portfolio is divided to three sections:
Re: Updated my portfolio
The images in your portfolio mirror your About statement well. I don't like that when I click Portfolio, I get a page with nothing but "1 2 3" and an "x" and that I have to click one of the numbers before I see any thumbnails. I would like it to take me straight to portfolio 1 without further clicks. Also, the action of the "x" isn't intuitive. It should say "home" or something more intuitive. Of course I clicked it and it did what I hoped it would do, but it wasn't obvious. It needs to be obvious.
Think about who you want viewing your work. Photo Editors and Directors have little time. It needs to be fast, take you straight into the images, and be intuitive and clean. You have the clean part spot on. You need fewer clicks, and more straight forward "home" button label.
I'm using Mac OS X Leopard and Safari 3, Opera 9.2.6, and FireFox 2.0.0.12.

Yeah, what Walter said....
I agree with what Walter exactly. I would like to see images on every page, even if it's just a sample of thumbnails or background photo.

I agree with others - that
I agree with others - that page with "1 2 3" is not informative. It reminds me of "advertizing" pages on myspace etc., that pop up before you get to actual content.
Also I suggest to put some links on contact and about on EVERY page.

I disagree with this. I want to present my images in a certain context, inside portfolio. Certainly not as background images. Reasons for this: I like my own work enough to represent it in a way I see suitable (and not as "layout elements"), and if there were photos "all over the place", it would seem to me kind of pushy. I don't want to present my photos as advertisements for my services (yes, that may seem a bit strange, but I'm a difficult person). They're more of works of art (for me), so I like to present them as such (as far as I can in the context of web pages). And yes, horrible things (for instance, re-cropping to fit the page layout) are done to my "works of art" when they're used for editorial purposes in newspapers and magazines, but I don't have to suggest that on my site, do I? :)
The main reason no pictures (and just the numbers) are seen on the gallery intro page is a sort of "silence" before presenting the photos (probably does not make much sense for many, though).
