Wide Angle Shots - do they work & do you try?

I've recently started taking along the 11-18mm to try & capture a good looking wide shot of the stage, though they do not really have any commercial appeal, I personally like the look of them.....but they are actually quite hard to capture, unless you have a massive stage setup like Kiss

Post your attempts, links from those who you think have nailed it or even your reasons why you hate them....

Here is one of mine from Korn on Sunday night

I don't have anything THAT

I don't have anything THAT wide.

But I've been known to use what I have when the opportunity presents itself.

And that's a killer shot there.

I use them all the time!

although mine is only a 17-40 f/4L it's on my full frame 5D. If I didn't have the wide, I never would have gotten these shots. Steve Conte of The New York Dolls was getting up in my lens....lol. Seriously, I was up against the stage and he was getting right up there!

Ultra-Wide is an excellent tool to have handy...

Ultra-Wide is an excellent tool when close to the stage at small venues and epic ones alike. It is also great for shooting at the drumkit or any time you are space limited or able to be very close to your subject.

I've had many wide-angle shots published over the years. Definitely keep rockin' the wide!

Yeh you have some great

Yeh you have some great drummer portraits utilising the wide angle....I never get AAA so I haven't been able to try a shot behind the kit as yet, but I've org'd a pass through I Killed The Prom Queen for their final tour next month, keen to give it a go

Got approval to use flash as well, now I just gotta learn how to blend properly.....only just got a 430EX and haven't had a chance to play with it properly as yet let alone try and shoot a show with it

I love my 14mm!

I use my 14mm wide angle all the time. Guess it is more like a 20mm on my digital camera. Its great for catching the big picture and give lots to work with cropping wise. I really put it to use at a recent Bassnectar performance.
