Mike Ness played a solo show at The Belly Up Tavern in Solana Beach, CA on 4/29/08. I had to sign a release to get my pass, but it was pretty tame. It basically said images could only be used for Editorial purposes, which is all I was going to use them for since I don't have HIS signed release. The only part I objected to was where they insisted on approving all images before use. There was a separate line for initialing to acknowledge this part, but I didn't, and they didn't say anything so it was all good.
The part that sucked was.... this was the first time at my home venue that they had barriers set up, but they (Ness's people) wouldn't let me shoot from inside them! I had to stand outside the barriers in the mosh pit (which I won't do again).

I had some issues with the Mike Ness solo tour. I had been approved to shoot them, I get there and I'm not on the list. I was going to just forget it, but on principle I decided to go print the email approval and bring it back. The girl at the venue was very reluctant to even pick up her radio and call a supervisor. About 20 minutes later, someone comes out to grab the email and take it inside. Now, I've worked with large touring bands and all of this behavior was very unacceptable. Eventually a small girl came out and was very polite. She said everything looked to be ok and walked me in. At least I was able to get around the release!
I never thought Mike Ness was big enough to have any demands on a release.
