For a second time this week I have heard from a fellow photographer that Motley Crue has been pulling photo credetials that have already been promised and have now laid new ground rules not to allow photographers in the photo pit but instead to photograph them from the sound board. Well, being that it is hundreds of yards away, and they will be playing in the dark, it will be hard going to get a descent shot of them even with my 70-200 2.8. Nikki Sixx being a photographer should know this, but maybe that is the point. Any of you heard about this or photographed Cruefest yet? I'm supposed to on Sunday if my pass doesn't get pulled....

Ok, yes, I just received my
Ok, yes, I just received my second ( thank goodness) confirmation for the show for my photo credentials. However, there was attached now ALL the bands for Cruefest will be photographed from the soundboard. So, get out your best and fastest telephotos! 3 song rule still applies. 70-200 F 2.8 is what I will be bringing. Oh, and BTW I photographed the mayhem festival last weekend and Slipknot wanted us to sign a release that they would own all of our photographs....so we didn't photograph them even though they were the headliners. Just a heads up too anyone else. The rest of the bands were terrific.

I'm glad to hear...
... that you declined to shoot when presented with that Rights Grabbing Release. I have twice turned down bands for that same reason. Also, if you have a tele converter (I have a 2x) it really comes in handy when shooting from the sound board. I had to shoot from there with Fergie and Earth, Wind & Fire and still got decent images, though no full frame face shots.
