MISSION STATEMENT - This site is dedicated to professional music photographers. Our mission is to advocate sound business practices, warn against predatory client practices, provide helpful and educational resources, and foster a sense of community. All discussions related to capturing, processing, cataloging and licensing music photographs are welcome.
I first got into concert photography when I snuck my camera into a Leo Kottke concert when I was a college student. I knew enough not to have a flash on the camera. But did I learn that being close to the stage was the best vantage point for good concert shooting. (I was shooting from the balcony of a now-defunct club in Ann Arbor, Michigan.)
Well, that was then. This is now.
I'm in Tucson, Arizona, where I'm building up a portfolio of local musicians in performance. My most recent professional gig was the 2010 Tucson Folk Festival. (I was the official photographer. As such, I shot 36 acts over the course of the Folk Festival's two-day run.)
