Beware of Yahoo's "Smush It"

Yahoo has released a new utility to crunch down the size of image files and convert them between formats. Part of how this utility achieves file size reduction is through removing all color profile and copyright management information. That second part is what really creates a problem. The DMCA explicitly forbids the removal of any CMI (Copyright Management Information). Read more details about this on John Harrington's blog "Shame On You, Yahoo!".

How come MySpace gets away with it then? They change the file name and everything. :(

myspace gets away with it because you agreed to it in the first place when you signed up. read the tos.

Yahoo probably added similar wording to it's Terms of Service as well.
